Did you know mummies are actually real? They are! Even better I will show you how to make one!
Step 1: nip and tug because mummy making is a secretive and smelly business, priests carry the corpse to an embalming tent deep in the western desert. They wash the body and lay it on an embalming table. The body is sliced open, and it's organs are removed.
Step 2:DRY SPELL The liver stomach intestines and lungs are all carefully cleaned preserved and sealed in special ''canopic jars'' carved to look like the gods who guard these organs. The heart however is considered crucial equipment for the journey though the underworld so it's put back into place. The body cavity is packed with an egyptian salt called natron that soaks up all the moisture and the corpse is left to dry for 40 days.
The Shining Star is a PTO-sponsored school blog where one blog post is posted per day so that the student's work can "shine"! Students work independently or with a partner so you may see more than one author per post. Be sure to subscribe to the Shining Star so you can show your child their blog post when it comes out and see if they wrote about the topic you both decided on!
